Position Description

Pharmacy Manager

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires the completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible related experience. Requires current registration to practice pharmacy in the state.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure departmental attainment of performance objectives related to volume, service, script count and generic substitution by the accurate dispensing of drugs and pharmaceuticals according to prescriptions written by physicians or other authorized persons.
  2. Oversee the maintenance of records and control of narcotics, restricted drugs and prescription drugs
  3. Review and interpret prescriptions written by physicians or other authorized persons, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities. Contact physicians as necessary to ensure correctness.
  4. Address and resolve any inquiries, issues or problems with the customer regarding the use of the prescription, drug interactions, side effects, dosage, storage, etc.
  5. Ensure adherence to procedures regarding quality assurance, security of narcotics, disposal of drugs, etc.
  6. Ensure the completion and maintenance of all required documentation, records, insurance information, inventory, charge systems, etc.
  7. Ensure all required patient information is entered accurately into the computerized system.
  8. Oversee or process incoming shipments according to procedures and ensure correct storage.
  9. Act as a technical resource to customers to advise and recommend the use of non- prescription medicines and other medical supplies to meet their needs.
  10. Ensure the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the organization’s standards for quality, quantity, and safety, consistent with the organization’s principles.
  11. Ensure organizational compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies. Promote affirmative action and equal employment opportunity.
  12. Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.
  13. Supervisory duties including, interviewing, hiring, scheduling, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees.
